WHITE AS STARLIGHT

First published in ?

I stare into the night
take the moon as a given
listen to the dark
white-noise
  white-elephant
    white-feather
a marker in the eyes
brimful of dead tears
lost battles, old braveries

I relive fragmented dreams
try to find my way
along red-carpeted corridors
red-letter
  red-light
    red-herring
toss and turn, lose the plot
look out onto a garden
of roses, white as starlight
