COME BACK TO ME IN SUMMER
First published in August 2022
Whisper to me from
sharp grasses
fanning sea-salt across
the headland.
Kiss me in shards
of spun-glass
sea-spray glimmering
under the sun.
Sing to me in the heat
of afternoon
when sands burn and
sea-horses sleep.
Touch me where it
matters, in the
depths of my salt-dark
sea-cave.
Lie close to me as wave
meets rock
and sea-winds sing
off-shore.
